Regional Health Directorate, Western One

2. Organizational Structure
The Regional Health Directorate Western One is led by the Regional Director of Health Services, who holds the highest position and oversees all health services at the regional level. The Director is supported by two key principals: the Regional Principal Nursing Officer (RPNO) and the Regional Principal Public Health Officer. These principals supervise other staff and serve as the main technical officers within the region.
Administration and operations are managed by the Senior Administrative Officer, who is also responsible for human resource management and logistics.
The directorate’s hierarchy also includes focal persons for various programs and units under the Ministry of Health. This includes:
• Regional Health Promotion and Education Officer
• EPI Operation Officer (ROO)
• Regional Vector Control Officer
• Regional TB and Leprosy Officer
• CHN Tutor
• Senior Nutritional Officer
• Regional Data Manager
• Senior Lab Scientist
• Regional Pharmacy Technician
• Regional IT Officer
• Regional Accountant
Support staff provide essential non-health technical services, including drivers, data entry clerks, store hands, health laborers, orderlies, cleaners, plumbers, carpenters, LMI staff, and messengers.
3. Key Functions and Responsibilities
As outlined in the National Health Policy, the Regional Health Directorate Western One is responsible for implementing the policies and programs of the Ministry of Health, similar to other regional health directorates. The directorate oversees healthcare delivery and provides stewardship for primary and secondary levels of care within the peripheral health facilities in its region.
