Overview

Under the supervision of the Ministry of Health, the Directorate of National Pharmaceutical Services (NPS) comprises two key components:

National Pharmaceutical Services (NPS):

Coordinates the overall implementation of the National Medicines Policy (NMP), including planning and managing public pharmaceutical services.

Central Medical Stores (CMS):

Responsible for ensuring the availability and supply of medicines, medical consumables, and equipment to the public health sector through effective storage and distribution systems.

  1. Coordinate policy formulation and implementation.
  2. Monitor and evaluate the implementation of the National Medicines Policy (NMP).
  3. Disseminate monitoring and evaluation reports.
  4. Develop pharmaceutical human resources.
  5. Regularly update the National Essential Medicines List, Standard Treatment Guidelines (STG), and other relevant guidelines.
  6. Manage the procurement and supply chain of health commodities for the public health system.
  7. Ensure the delivery of quality pharmaceutical care to the population.
  1. Provide pharmaceutical services to public health facilities.
  2. Support human resource needs for pharmaceutical services in the public sector.
  3. Advocate for rational prescribing and use of medicines.
  4. Store and manage health commodities to ensure the availability of safe, effective, and quality medicines to the public.
